Marriage is a relationship between two individuals and very often they are bound by civil or religious beliefs where both the parties are ready to spend the rest of their lives together. A universal institution, marriage can be found in every strata of the society and in all cultures though in different forms. Marriage has existed prior to various other man-made institutions have existed.

A happy marital relationship means a strong family and consequently a stable society, as families are the foundation of any society. When people marry, a new social and economic relationship is formed and people marry so that they can live together until death but sometimes due to various factors a couple decides to divorce and part ways, and divorce can, at certain times, be a relief when the continuity of the relationship is only on paper, with no emotional bonding or when it is a violent or high conflict marriage.

In the past and in times when the society was less complex, the life of both children and adults was simple. It was thus easier for children to find a way into the adult world may be by watching them, sharing and participating in chores of the home and became confident of their ability of the adult world though enjoying the life of childhood. The relationship between the parent and child is not dependent on marriage, but makes an existence the moment a child comes into the world and a bond is created between the man or a woman and the child.

This institution has under- gone countless modifications and alterations as per the convenience of the society. Generally the concept of marriage is considered to be a union or a relationship between a man and a woman and the existing laws have defined it to be a union between the opposite sexes i.e., heterosexuals.

Adoption is the legal act of parenting a child in the place of biological parents. An adoption arrangement has the effect of transferring the parental responsibilities and rights of the birth parents to the adoptive parents. There exists no difference between adopted children and those born to the parents after the completion of the legal procedure of adoption.
